We cannot hold on to unjust behaviors against us, hurtful words or actions befallen us, or betrayals that have cut us deeply – and then wonder why we do not want to continue coming to church, why our marriage is struggling, or why we do not find reading the Bible helpful anymore! Active waiting on God chooses to leave nothing on the table in a detailed surrender to God’s perfect way.
Sometimes, we can choose “truth” as our last choice. Politicians tend to align themselves with popular opinion or with the greatest personal advantage. In fact, that is what the religious people in Acts 25:1-5 are counting on! However, the truth often contradicts popularity or personal gain. Eventually, we are all called upon to choose sides. Will you choose personal gain, popularity, or truth?
We must take care to see all God’s creation as God’s creation. Not all of those in the Bible were appealing individuals, but the Lord sought them out! In fact, Paul himself was guilty of horrific crimes against the church before he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus. No matter their background or beliefs…everyone needs Christ.
An angry mob singles you out because you are wearing a faith-based t-shirt and carrying a Bible. They aggressively begin yelling profanities and making false accusations against your character. As you consider what to do, the first punch is thrown and lands on your jaw. You are knocked to the ground and the crowd begins beating on you! This is what happened to Paul in Acts 21.
