“No one seems to befriend me!” Have you ever said that or maybe thought it?
Proverbs 18:24 states, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.” Two things are clear in this passage of scripture. First, you need to show yourself friendly to others if you are to have friends. Others may have approached you for conversation, or done something special for you. May I ask…have you shown yourself friendly to others? It is important to see that the focus in showing yourself friendly to others is rooted in humility and selflessness. It is only pride that keeps you back from this Biblical instruction. The second item seen in this passage is that you already have a friend that sticks closer than a brother! The hymn writer said it this way, “What a friend we have in Jesus.” No friend on this earth could ever be a greater friend than Jesus Christ. Jesus tells you the truth (because He is the truth). He never leaves you, and he never changes…what a friend we have in Jesus! May we show ourselves friendly to others and never turn from the wondrous fellowship of the friend that sticks closer than a brother
